Living in Small Spaces: Thrive Tip #10

Thrive Tip 10

Thrive Tip #10: Small is not always better.

There is a wall in my living room, a wall that cannot have any use other than exactly what it is: A separation of my bedroom closet from the living room. We can’t put a chair there, or a table, or anything useful, really, because it would block the kitchen doorway. The only thing to do was fill up as much of that blank space as possible with art.

I have heard many times that small places need small furniture and small art. I disagree. Art should suit the space, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be small. In this case, a small picture would have looked ridiculous on a large empty wall. I could have done a gallery wall, but that has the same effect as a large poster-sized print.

As for this print in particular, the quote is from Sabrina, one of my favorite Audrey Hepburn movies. In the movie, Paris represents a fresh start. You can see why I fell in love with this print! (The print is from Susan Newberry Designs. The original design was much smaller than what I wanted, but she graciously agreed to a custom order.)
